Travaux Pratiques Avancés - Magnetic Field Sensors

The development of modern technologies leads to a need for more sensitive measuring methods. In the field of magnetic field detection, the use of physical effects like e.g. the anisotropic or "giant" magnetoresistance (AMR or GMR) or the Josephson effects is very promising. This pratical shall give a theoretical and practical introduction to the basics in dealing with magnetic sensors. These sensors, which are based on the above given effects, are called magnetoresistive sensors, because the magnetic field is measured by measuring the electrical resistance of the sensor. Today, magnetoresistive sensors can be produced by low costs and are suitable for mass market production. They work very reliable even under extreme conditions e.g. car engines. They are usable in all kind of applications which require high sensitivity and low energy consumption.
